Free range, natural, fresh organic portraits, marinated with natural light and crafted in the great outdoors. There’s nothing quite like the great UK countryside to give you gorgeous pieces of wall-art, that you & your family happen to be in. At PhotoGlow we love producing images that are creative, colourful & natural and having a good knowledge of the seasons really helps with that. We wanted to share the best times of year & seasons for beautiful backdrops, so we created the inforgraphic below. It shows the progression through the year with foliage coming into bloom and receding again. Some looks can be photographed at any time of year, like twilight portraits and blue sky – really!
We also added the sunrise & sunset times, as knowing these helps to plan when to aim a portrait session for. The unpredictability of the climate is part of the fun and beautiful portraits are possible in all conditions from cloudless sun to soft rain. There can be a lot of variation in the time when vegetation comes into bloom in different years, so use the timings as a rough guide. If you would like photos with a particular environment, e.g. bluebell woods, then do let your photographer know well ahead of time to plan it in and allow for early or late blooming. We are based in Gloucestershire, so the foliage timings are based on the seasons here. Subtract a few weeks if you’re in Cornwall and add a few if you’re based in Scotland or are on a hill where it’s cooler.
So many thing in life are here today and gone tomorrow. It’s good to slow down occasionally and capture a deep, rich set of memories; to stop and smell the flowers/blossom. What is your favourite season and why?
